Broadcasting to Patients in Reading's Hospitals Since 1957

Lee Jackson HRR

Sunday Lunchtime presenter Lee Jackson shares his love of American music with the patients in his “American Gold” show. He has been with HRR for over 20 years and started even earlier than that, spending his childhood days pretending to present radio shows at home with his record player (remember them?!)

Broadcasting heroes ?  “Lee particularly admires U.S. presenters Emperor Rosko and the late Casey Kasem for their presentational style and their musical knowledge (Casey Kasem hosted the first ever Chart Countdown on radio,  used to crop up on ITV in the middle of the night (!) and his syndicated shows, looking at the charts of years gone by, can still occasionally be heard in HRR’s daytime schedule).

When not on HRR  Lee listens to most types of music except opera. His Musical memories  include listening to Mike Read and Steve Wright (remember “Read and Wright” on Radio 210?).  Lee is also man enough to admit that the first record he ever bought was “A Wombling Merry Christmas” – but it was the mid-70s and he was very young at the time!
