Broadcasting to Patients in Reading's Hospitals Since 1957

Kathleen is one of HRR’s weekend presenters, having joined the Saturday night Record Request team towards the end of 2006. When not at HRR she keeps herself busy as a volunteer driver and neighbourhood watch coordinator and also enjoys listening to Capital Gold radio, tennis, skating &  healthy walks, as well as being a member of three choirs!

Earliest radio memories ?   “Listening to Listen with Mother on the BBC at 1.45pm. The title music was Fauré’s Dolly Suite” she adds. “The DJ I first remember enjoying was Noel Edmonds on a Sunday morning,  my very first musical memory was hearing Stranger on the Shore by Acker Bilk and the first record I ever bought was Silhouette by Herman’s Hermits”.

These days Kathleen still prefers music from the 60s and 70s “and 1971 is my all-time favourite year and always will be”. She cites Noel Edmonds as her greatest influence, but also admires Johnny Walker, David Hamilton and David “Kid” Jensen and, like many of us, confesses to a long-held ambition to work in professional radio – in her case at Capital Gold.

Not Many People Know That …….  Kathleen once received a marriage proposal from The Rolling stones’ first road manager in 1976).
