Broadcasting to Patients in Reading's Hospitals Since 1957

Mary Cawley HRR

Mary has been volunteering with HRR in 2012 as part of the Tuesday evening Record Requests team, which she was encouraged to join by her Producer, friend and fellow thespian James Burton Stewart. When not on HRR she works by day for a commercial property insurance company and in her spare time belongs to a local amateur dramatic society, where she and James first met.

Her father was a semi professional musician, playing trumpet & violin in a dance band, and she recalls that the radio and music were always on at home during her childhood.  It’s no surprise then that her musical preferences are eclectic (“almost everything except heavy metal/rock”) and in 1970 Mary I went to the Isle of Wight pop festival in 1970 and saw The Moody Blues.

Not many people know that Mary nurses a secret ambition to fly on a theatrical wire. So if Mortimer Amateur Dramatic Society ever advertise a production of Peter Pan you should go along, as you might see her taking to the air instead of just taking to the airwaves at HRR!
